Nurse leaders are expected to prioritize competing demands, administer and manage finances, lead and manage dynamic teams, address generational differences, and tackle culturally diverse and difficult situations. As the aging nurses are retiring, influencing the careers of the younger millennial nurses is an important component of a leadership succession plan. Leadership programs are needed to build a pipeline of nurses that are well prepared and positioned to lead long into the future.
